Perfetti van Melle Bangladesh workers still fighting for collective bargaining rights protest management visit

Thirteen months after winning legal recognition for their PVM Union, workers at global confectioner Perfetti van Melle’s factory in Gazipur are still fighting management’s ongoing violations of their collective bargaining rights. While negotiations are still ongoing, management has unilaterally implemented basic terms and conditions that are understood to be subject to collective bargaining – like wages and leave.

The workers are determined to negotiate, through their union, terms and conditions at the factory – and turned out in force for a demonstration on March 4 when the PvM Asia Pacific President visited the plant. Demonstrations continue outside the factory with daily protests.
