Humana and Nordmilch merge to form Germany’s largest dairy company
The representatives of Humana Milchindustrie and Nordmilch cast a clear vote in favour of merger in early February. With this decision, the two cooperatives have created Germany’s largest dairy company.
The new company – called Deutsches Milch Kontor GmbH (DMK) – is expected to begin operations in early April.
The two dairy cooperatives are already Germany’s largest milk processors. After the merger, the combined company will have a combined total of 11,100 active milk farmers processing 6.7 billion kilograms of milk, 24 locations and 5,500 employees. With sales of EUR 4.8 billion (based on 2008 figures) DMK will take its place in the top ten of the European dairy industry.
