On October 4, a warning strike took place at Mondelēz’ Milka and Oreo factory in Bielany Wrocławskie. IUF affiliate Solidarnosc and its Mondelēz members called for the warning strike due to the gap between Mondelēz Poland’s offer and the union’s wage demands.
- Lengthy negotiations, including in a mediation, have taken place between Mondelēz and Solidarnosc representatives, but unfortunately, no agreement has yet been reached
- Poland currently has one of the highest inflation rates in Europe, with overall inflation set to reach 11.4% in 2023
Solidarnosc union representative Jan Szperka said, “Our warning strike is an alarm signal for management. There have, in general, been no strikes or protests at the factory in Bielany Wrocławskie and throughout Mondelēz in Poland! This is an unusual situation. We are determined to fight for higher wages and respect for every worker. We expect a response from management by October 20.”
