As the Congress entered its second day, IUF Regional Secretaries shared their vision of the fight for our future as the day focused on the fight for trade union rights.
- During the “Trade Union Rights” discussion, delegates from IUF affiliates including Argentina, Cambodia, Guinea, Haiti, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and the US shared success stories and ongoing struggles of organizing, negotiating and winning better working conditions
- Delegates debated and voted in favor of resolutions denouncing Canada’s exclusion of agricultural workers from labour law as well as a call on the fruit company Fyffes to respect the right to organize and the right to collective bargaining
- Across Switzerland, IUF affiliate UNIA led IUF Congress delegates, dressed in purple, in a Women’s Strike focused on equal pay and an end to sexual harassment
- As the war in Ukraine continues, Congress delegates celebrated Ukrainian culture as a Ukrainian choir performed traditional folk songs
