Teamsters Canada tell their Government not to trade dairy workers’ jobs

Francois Laporte, President of Teamsters Canada has written to the Canadian Trade Minister urging him to resist the demands of the U.S and NZ Governments to open up dairy market access in the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA). The Teamsters stand in solidarity with the dairy farmers of Canada who have objected to the bullying of the US negotiators during the TPPA endgame.
Laporte refers to the cooperation of IUF dairy affiliates when he writes “We and our brothers and sisters in the dairy industries in NZ, Australia and the US share several concerns,” and together could only support an agreement “that protects workers rights to organize, does not restrict access to affordable medicines and does not give foreign investors the right to sue our elected governments.” Read the full letter here.
