Mondelēz workers and their unions decided to commence strike actions at Mondelēz France worksites starting November 30. The strikes have been called due to the gap between what is being offered by Mondelēz France and the unions’ wage demands.
In November 2022 in France, inflation levels remained at a record rate of 7% compared to one year ago. Food prices alone were up 12.2% in France in November 2022.
- IUF affiliated unions CFDT Agri Agro, FGTA-FO, and CFE-CGC AGRO and their Mondelēz members are all taking part in the strike actions in France calling for a fair pay deal; French union FNAF-CGT and its Mondelēz members are also participating in the strike actions
- More strike actions are planned at Mondelēz worksites in France on December 12 and 13
- Workers in other parts of world are also struggling with a cost-of-living crisis as wage increases are often not keeping pace with inflation rates; this means a decline in workers’ purchasing power
CFC-CGC AGRO member and Mondelēz European Works Council Vice Chairperson Isabelle Morel said, “Mondelēz workers are struggling with an ongoing cost-of-living crisis, not only in France, but in Europe and beyond. Workers need a pay rise which helps workers make ends meet, particularly in these challenging circumstances.”
