On August 2, approximately 400 members of IUF affiliate Tekgida-Is went on strike at the Turkish operations of airline catering TNC, LSG Sky Chefs, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, following a break down in collective bargaining.
Negotiations began early this year and the employer has still refused to make an acceptable wage offer after ten negotiating sessions and despite the use of a mediator brought in to assist the union and employer reach agreement.
The workers, many of whom are on minimum wages, provide airline meals for travelers on airlines which include Lufthansa, Air France and Turkish companies
