USA: BCTGM members ratify new agreement at Kellogg

After a 22-month-long struggle – which included the 10-month lock-out of 226 BCTGM members in Memphis – a new collective agreement has been negotiated between Kellogg and the union of Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers.

More than 1,300 members at four Kellogg cereal plants in the US voted to ratify the new Master Agreement which replaces the one set to expire on October 3, 2015.

The vote occurred on August 1, exactly one year after a Federal Judge ordered Kellogg to end the lockout of the Memphis workforce. That decision was reaffirmed by the National Labor Relations Board in June 2015.

The new agreement includes a 5-year moratorium on plant closings, wage and pension increases and maintenance of health care benefits.
