In response to the attacks from activist shareholders, Danone employees have launched an online petition calling for workplace and public support for Danone’s  business model.

  • The petition includes an open letter to Danone’s Board of Directors confirming employees “adherence to the values and mission of Group” based on the “dual project, economic and social”
  • It highlights the readiness of Danone workers to meet “the food and agriculture challenges of tomorrow”
  • The letter states that the slowdown linked to the COVID-19 pandemic “which weighs-down the Group’s results today, cannot call into question the relevance of its long-term strategy”
  • It builds on public statements from the IUF’s French affiliates

The petition is in line with the IUF’s letter to the Danone Board, and we are asking affiliates to support and distribute as widely and as quickly as possible. The next meeting of Danone’s Board takes place soon.

Please support the petition here and spread the word!

Hélène Deborde, chair of the Danone Consultation and Information Committee, stated: “The attacks by these investment funds, motivated solely by their remuneration, represent unacceptable acts of destabilization against the employees who contribute every day to Danone’s success and reputation, and contradict the commitment of the shareholders who voted for Danone’s evolution into a mission-driven company.”
