EFFAT-IUF Europe and sister regional European trade union federations EFBWW and ETF are organizing a major demonstration on Tuesday September 17 from 14:00-17:00 CET in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France around EFFAT-IUF Europe’s mobilizations and demand for an EU Directive on labor intermediaries and fair working conditions across subcontracting chains. This demand follows EFFAT-IUF Europe’s recently adopted joint paper with EFBWW and ETF covers common priorities.
This will be an important moment to promote our demands for equal treatment across subcontracting chains, for regulated labour intermediation and for more and better inspections. The demonstration will take place in occasion of the second official plenary meeting of the newly elected European Parliament with the aim of placing our demands at the center of the political agenda of the EU Institutions.
- For logistical and practical reasons, EFFAT-IUF Europe kindly request affiliates to fill in the digital form indicating the preliminary size of delegations as well as your mode of transport; each delegation should arrange its own travel and accommodation
- EFFAT-IUF Europe is currently exploring the possibility of organizing a hearing inside the European Parliament together with MEPs of different political groups from 17:30 to 19:00 CET
- This timing of the demonstration has been chosen to allow for maximum participation from affiliates; EFFAT-IUF strongly encourages the largest possible attendance of affiliates from neighboring countries
Kristjan Bragason, EFFAT-IUF Europe General Secretary, stated, “We are calling on all European trade unions to join our demand for fair working conditions across subcontracting chains. Let’s make our voices heard and demand the changes we need now.”
