PepsiCo’s Walkers crisp plant in the UK planned for closure

On 2 March PepsiCo announced its proposal to close the UK Walkers crisp plant in Peterlee in Country Durham.
The US-headquartered food and beverage giant is shutting its facility in north-east England “In order to improve the efficiency of our UK snacks manufacturing operations” with production transferred to other UK sites.
Around 400 jobs could be lost as a result of the closure.
