Protest at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) dairy plant continues into 54th day

The campaign by the IUF-affiliated Milk Food Factory Workers Union against union-busting by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare at its dairy products plant in Nabha continued into its 54th day. Before and after every shift 400 workers join meetings outside the factory gates while inside union members peacefully boycott the canteen and refuse overtime.
The union is demanding that management withdraw the suspension of union members, restore wage cuts imposed on 226 workers in February and 500 workers in March, pay the annual bonus to all 1,600 members that was withheld as punishment for union actions, and engage in good faith negotiations. Strike action is planned next month if management refuses to meet these demands.
