SINPROLAC sets its agenda for collective bargaining with Nestlé Nicaragua
On 8 July, SINPROLAC, the union at Nestlé Nicaragua, held a general assembly to evaluate the results of a series of training sessions – primarily for women, young workers and those reaching retirement age – aimed at consolidating and strengthening the union and to define the issues for the forthcoming negotiations with the company.
Among the items proposed by the union include a pay adjustment for 18 skilled workers operating in several areas of the factory and the revision of the Code of Conduct regarding disciplinary action.
The company disciplines workers without prior consultation with the union. “We want to amend the Code to include the creation of a bipartisan commission to not only examine the cases of dismissal, but also the application of disciplinary measures against workers,” said Félix Rizo, general secretary of SINPROLAC.
