Workers at Bel Karper in Turkey began their strike on May 17, 2021 over management’s refusal to recognize the union and begin collective bargaining. For 6 years, IUF affiliate Tekgıda-İş has pushed for recognition of the union with court rulings consistently in the union’s favour. While Groupe Bel, the French transnational dairy company, would never attempt such brazen union-busting in France, they continue their anti-union campaign in Turkey in violation of national and international law.
