IUF dairy affiliates to fight trade and investment agreements
Following a wide ranging discussion on the US-Colombia FTA, and trade and investment agreements proposed for the Pacific rim (TPPA) and US-EU (TTIP), IUF affiliates at the 3rd global dairy conference resolved to campaign against these agreements which are dominated by corporate interests. Such agreements are negotiated in secret, uphold the rights of investors at the expense of democracy, reduce wages and conditions and restrict the right of working people to access the necessities of life.
IUF dairy division members call on their respective Governments to abandon the current model of investment agreements and to conduct trading relationships which respect human rights and promote food security and economic sovereignty.
