The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU, China Labour Bulletin (CLB) and the Hong Kong Liaison Office of the international trade union movement have launched an important initiative in preparation for June 4, 2002, commemorating the 13th anniversary of the Chinese government’s bloody repression of workers and students in Tiananmen Square. The campaign links the experience and memory of repression to the hopes and aspirations of Chinese workers today as they struggle for independent trade unions and their rights as workers and citizens.
